Netherlands: Pepper crops relatively free of pests

It seems pepper growers being plagued by trips over the past two months, will finally get some peace of mind. The number of trips has declined significantly due to the emergence of the Orius laevigatus (Thripor-L). In most cases, we can say that the trip problem is under control.

In regard to other pests it has been generally quiet. It looks as if the cold weather of late has influenced the presence of bugs. So far, no cases of weevil infestations have been reported. Authorities, however, urge growers to be vigilant and to conduct regular inspections of pepper crops. Weevils are mainly found on the flowers and on 'young' peppers.
