This according to a recent report on residues of pesticides used on fruit and vegetables, published by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA). The report is supplemented every six months and now covers the period 1 January 2011 - 31 December 2012. The report contains detailed information about risk products, where the sample have been taken and what the results are.
The report records a positive trend, to the degree that fruits and vegetables from certain countries of origin show increasingly lower percentages of exceeded pesticide limits. This seems to be due to the progressively stringent requirements implemented by importers in regard to their foreign suppliers, and also to tighter controls at the external borders of Europe.
