Netherlands: Another geothermal well plan supported

A second geothermal drill in the Dutch Westland by the end of this year? "The plans are there and we are working on it, but the outcome still depends on several issues," says Paul Steekelenburg of Harting Holland. The tomato company is hedged by 0.5 million Euro, courtesy of the Westland Agenda. "That makes procedures a little easier,” says Paul. “The plans are there and there is a solid business case. The local government seems to agree."

Last week, the Geothermal Update announced that Westland Agenda supports the project by Harting Holland. That means that hedging for the project is available in case drilling goes awry. Rabobank representative Yves Maurice praised the plans of Holland Harting on the Geothermal Update. With support from Westland Agenda they want to keep sustainable development in the Westland going.

Those involved are looking at drilling at a depth of approximately 2,500 meters. The idea is to find a sustainable energy source for the tomato company.
