AU: Ingenious heating and cooling for 0,8 ha Tasmanian freesia nursery

In Tasmania, the island Southeast of Australia, Certhon supplied and installed the heating and cooling system for a 0.8 ha freesia nursery. In March 2013, Certhon has completed the most remote project in its rich history. The distance between the project location in Tasmania and Certhon head office in Poeldijk is 17,019 km.

As the greenhouse has to produce cut flowers year-round, the soil temperature has to be controlled accurately. For that reason Certhon supplied two separate systems, one system for soil heating and one system for soil cooling. The systems are connected to the existing boiler room and the new cooling machine. For the regulation and control of the systems we installed the Clima Terra © system. The application of the Clima Terra system ensures a highly efficient energy use.

In order to create the correct temperature inside the greenhouse Certhon has designed a hoist system for the grow tube heating system. The use of this system creates the perfect climate for the flowering of the freesias. A soil steaming system has been installed to disinfect the soil after the cultivation cycle.
