Netherlands: Wageningen UR and Philips open new LED facility

On Thursday, May 16, on the grounds of Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture in Bleiswijk, the Innovation & Demonstration Center LED (LED IDC) will officially be opened. The IDC LED is an initiative of Wageningen UR and Philips. At the IDC LED, the possibilities of LED lighting in greenhouses will be examined and demonstrated.

To study the potential for LED application in horticulture, Wageningen UR partnered up with Philips. The new facility IDC LED is designed for investigating various practical questions in the field of LED lighting. The new generation of LEDs offers more and more opportunities for greenhouses, not only in assimilation light, but also in directive light and other applications.

Festive opening May 16

Prior to the official opening on 16 May, researchers and growers will give their views on the latest results of LEDs in research and practice. At the end of the afternoon, running trials with LED lighting can be visited.
