Spain: Zayintec launches cucumbers in the form of hearts and stars in Salón de Gourmets

Cucumbers in the shape of a heart or a star are now on display (and available for sampling) in the Salón de Gourmets, during a tasting organized by Zayintec. The Salon can be found in the stand of the Almeria Province (Pavilion 6, Stand 6B12).

The cucumbers are grown organically in Almeria, and not only sport attractive shapes, but also stand out because of their exclusive ‘agronomic and organoleptic’ characteristics, according to the growers. For the development of this new production line, Zayintec applied innovations and improvements to an existing Persian variety, known for their freshness and palatability.

To get the peculiar shapes, Zayintec developed its own molds with an exclusive, patented design for consumer use. The molds are transparent and sunlight-permeable and allow growing fruits to adapt the intended shape. At present, field trials were completed successfully using molds for cucumbers, pumpkins and lemons.
