Germany: Lots of Rucola on offer

Rucola was on offer in German retail quite often during the first three months of 2013. There were 73 offers with Rucola from January to March this year, whereas there were only 39 offers in the same period last year, figures from the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI).

The Rucola that was on offer for the first three months was mostly from Italy. For almost a third of the offers so far this year the Rucola was organic. Whilst the maximum price of organic Rucola was 0.99 to 1.29 Euro per 100 grams, the maximum offer price of conventionally grown Rucola was 0.99 Euro per 100 grams.

The amounts of Rucola sold during the first two months of 2013 increased once again. According to the AMI, around 26% more Rucola was sold in Germany in the first two months of 2013 than in the same period in 2012.
