Guatemala: First horticultural training centre in Central America officially opened

On Friday 8 March, the CCIPPP training centre was opened in Guatemala amid great public interest. Around 500 guests were present when Francisco Viteri of Priva dealer Popoyán and Priva founder Jan Prins performed the official opening ceremony. Among the guests were the Guatemalan Ministers of Agriculture, Economy and Labour and the Dutch Consul.

CCIPPP is the first training centre for the horticulture industry in Central America. The centre is a collaboration between Popoyán and Priva. The training centre covers 2.5 hectares of greenhouses: two hectares for production and training, and half an acre for research projects. The site also has offices, an irrigation room and a modern auditorium. Tomatoes and peppers are grown in the greenhouses. A further expansion of the production and training facilities is scheduled for 2015 onwards.
