Netherlands: FloraHolland promotion plan for Kalanchoë approved

On Wednesday, March 27, almost 82 percent of the represented Kalanchoë growers (in terms of turnover) approved the promotion plan of the FloraHolland Kalanchoë product committee (FPC). In total, 91 percent of the total product turnover for 2012 was included in the vote. Since the General Members' Meeting of FloraHolland in December 2012, it has been possible to vote on product-specific promotion at the members' request.

Excursion day for Kalanchoë growers

The promotion vote took place during an excursion day for Kalanchoë growers organised by LTO Growth Service. The excursion started at the FPC-chair Hans Kuilboer. There were 17 members present, 0 members had voted digitally on the product-specific promotion in advance of the excursion. During the excursion the promotion plan was described in detail. The vote took place using voting machines. The promotion committee will spell out and elaborate these activities in the near future.

Promotion charge

All growers (both members and non-members) of flowering Kalanchoës will contribute to the promotion activities (see also the table below). Some breeders will also be funding the budget.

  • Percentage to be raised via FloraHolland: 0.15% of the turnover (clock and Connect).
  • Period of charge: 1 January 2013 through 31 December 2015 (3 years).
  • Deduction - retroactive effect: from 1 January 2013.
  • Deduction per quarter: First time in April 2013.
