Spain: Italian peppers and tomatoes in the spotlight at Ramiro Arnedo open days

More than 100 farmers have attended the open days at the seed company of Ramiro Arnedo in El Ejido, a municipality of Almeria province. Farmers learned about technical innovations and their use, and were also able to learn more about their own specific area of interest through additional information and demonstrations.

Peppers, tomatoes and aubergines from Italy were the main attraction and visitors could sample the quality of these products. The Italian pepper was one of the chief attractions, as well as the traditional varieties Vegas F1 and Rigoletto F1. Other varieties on display were the Brindisi F1, the Vinci F1 and the Coliseo for the late harvest.

New pepper campaigns announced by the industry included a Valrollo variety, the 37818, distinguished by its color and very good flavour, and the F1 Tapia, a yellow pepper that stands out for its texture and flavour. According to insiders: "The peppers are beautiful, uniform, and of good quality and taste."

The Masai F1 stands out as well. This tomato is green in color and mainly sold on the domestic market. Another notable variety present at the event was the Kikuyu F1, a pear-shaped tomato that is sold separately.
