US (NM): Workshops will show how to make greenhouse hoop houses

The Center for Latino Farmers, a division of Rural Community Development Resources, will be sponsoring hands-on workshops on building low-cost greenhouses called hoop houses.

The project, led by New Mexico State University’s Cooperative Extension Service, is designed to help socially disadvantaged farmers learn how to construct a hoop house for year-round agricultural production.

The two-day workshops will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Tuesday at Alvarez Farm near Sunnyside and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Los Guanacos Farm near Wapato.

Space is limited to 15 participants for each workshop. For more information or to register, call Maria Giedra or Claudia Avila at 509-453-3157.
