Russia: Japanese interest in joint greenhouse activities in Khabarovsk
Cada Kosen, the Executive Director of the Organization, particularly stressed the high interest of the Japanese side in joint activities as the development of agriculture in Russia seems to be very promising for foreign companies.
The Japanese side is ready to bring its technologies and developments to Russia and also to attract scientists from the Agricultural University of Tokyo to the development of greenhouse production.
To date it has not been decided for sure whether the construction will begin from scratch or they will yet use facilities of some Khabarovsk enterprise. But, according to Sergei Zhelonkin, the first Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the region, the cooperation with the Japanese can be very beneficial for the entire region. At present the Khabarovsk region demand for greenhouse vegetables is about 158 thousand tons of production, which is mostly imported. In this regard, the development of the region self-supply seems to be very important.
