Italian fruit and vegetable overseas trade figures

According to FruiImprese, during October last year there was an increase in export but a slight stepdown
in import.

The balance stands at €870milion, with a 16.1% increment compared with the same period in 2011.

Italian firms have exported a total amount of 3,337,000 tons (+0.3%) for an approximate value of €3,150,000,000 (+1.1%).

The volume of trade has registered a positive result with vegetables (1.2%) and fresh fruit (2.4%), that represent 90% of export. There has however been a downward trend for citrus and dried fruit export (-10.7%).

As for the market value, vegetables and citrus fruit are on the decrease whereas fresh fruit (4.6%) and dried fruit (4.3%) are increasing.

Regarding imports, Italy has imported 2.6 million tons of fruit and vegetables (-0.3%) for a total value of 2.83 million Euro (-3.7%).

The volume of trade has increased with citrus fruit (15.9%) and vegetables (5.1%) but decreased for all the others: fresh fruit (-11.4%), dried fruit (-11.8%) tropical fruit (-5.3%).

The only rise in value is with citrus fruit (20%) and dried fruit (0.9%).
