Norway: Coop Norge sees sales of organic produce rise

Coop Norge, the Norwegian cooperative retailer, has reported increases in the sale of organic fruit and vegetables in 2012. Two of the group's banners Coop Extra and Coop Mega saw an increase in the first half of 2012 of 55 per cent and 20 per cent, respectively.

The figures were released by the Norwegian government which is actively promoting the consumption of organic products, with the aim of 15 per cent of Norwegians regularly consuming organic products on by 2020.
