Celtic Cooling spearheads production stop of R22 and export

It has been known for a while that R22 is no longer allowed as a means of cooling from 1 January 2015. R22 is a means of cooling containing chlorine. The chlorine attacks the Ozone-layer. Therefore the EU have decided not to use this means of cooling installation in the future. Celtic is busy getting rid of R22. Clients are actually forced into replacing their installations before then. After 1/1/2015 no repairs to R22 installations can be undertaken. This replacement has been going on for a while.

Joost van Klink, "As time goes on this is becoming more important. Often a choice is being made for a 'green' solution such as ammonia and/or CO2. The investments for an ammonia or CO2 installation often are slightly higher. As a result of the lower use of energy and better durability this difference is quickly earned back."

Celtic Koeling has been in existence for 16 years. During this time Joost has built up a lot together with his team. Originally Celtic built cooling installations for the flower branch. Now they concentrate on vegetables. 75% of the installations are sold to companies abroad at the moment. Especially Africa and the CIS-countries are supplied by Celtic in their turn-key projects. Joost van Klink, "We build more than only cooling abroad. We build complete premises. Foundations and concrete floors will be there. The rest we build. From offices and cold stores to working areas and CA-storage."

At the moment Celtic have a lot of branches abroad: Kenya, Ethiopia and Kazakhstan. Africa is important for Celtic. The previous Eastern Block countries are up and coming. Joost sees a lot of opportunities there. Also the countries of Middle and South America will meet Celtic more often. "There are still a lot of challenges, which we are confidently looking at," Joost says. "We will build bigger projects in more and more countries all and also use energy more consciously."
