Netherlands: 4.8 hectare rose grower Saris files bankruptcy

Dutch rose grower Saris in Venlo is bankrupt. The 4.8 hectare large nursery employed 26 workers and 33 part time workers. The company produced about 12 million roses per year. According to the local newspaper L1, bad pricing and high costs are the reason for the bankruptcy. Also increased competition with rose growers in Ethiopia and Kenya appears to have been detrimental.
