Clean start with gutter protection film

The gutter protection film from Oerlemans Plastics has been on the market for 3 years now and is more and more a successful innovation for the growers. Normally you must use a lot of power, water and chemicals to clean the gutter at the end of the season. By using the gutter protection film this will be much less. The gutter stays clean because the film is colored black and white, this is to prevent algae growth underneath the film. It also will reduce unwanted root growth and reduces the risk of transmission of viruses and diseases. Another benefit of installing the gutter protection film is, that it extends the lifespan of the gutters by reducing the degradation of the coating caused by fertilizers.

For example a pepper grower in the Netherlands had, before he used the gutter film, a lot of diseases. Two years ago this grower started with the gutter protection film together with new drippers and a different chlorine content in his water. Because of this combination the percentage of the loss of plants went down from 7-10% to approximately 1% last season.

Growers from all over Europe are using the gutter protection film at the moment and there are also some tests in America and Canada. The possibility is there to make the film for gutters from 15 up to 26 cm and with different sizes of flaps. Easy installation is possible by using the specially developed rewinding socket.
