Netherlands: Subsidy for biomass project at horticultural area

Provincial government in the north of Holland will provide a grant of 200,000 euros for a biogas plant at Agriport A7 in Middenmeer. This installation processes discarded vegetables into dry biomass, which in turn is converted into energy. Recipient of the grant is Provalor, a company that processes greenhouse waste into raw materials for new energy applications. Class 3 vegetables not suitable for marketing are usually composted, because they often contain too much water for biogas.

Biomass production

Provalor has developed a process to treat these residues and convert them into biomass suitable for new energy through fermentation. The glasshouse at Agriport A7 can thus utilize its own biomass for energy purposes.
