President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed to increase the number of greenhouses in Uzbekistan that do not rely on fuel.
This initiative aims to support farmers by providing them with ready-to-use greenhouses, facilitated through interest-free loans of up to 7500 euros.
On February 12, during a meeting chaired by President Mirziyoyev, it was emphasized that the financing mechanism for greenhouse agriculture needs revision. Previously, substantial loans were allocated to greenhouse construction. However, there were concerns that these loans were misused in projects that were not unrelated to agriculture.
Greenhouse owners have had their loan repayments extended several times. Most recently, in August of last year, the president extended the repayment deadline for loans totaling 2.2 trillion sums (154 million euros) for 1000 greenhouse farms.
To address these issues, regional governors have been tasked with allocating 50 hectares of land within two months and engaging entrepreneurs in the construction of turnkey greenhouses (with each farm covering 10 acres).
President Mirziyoyev highlighted the growing trend of compact greenhouses that do not require heating fuel, with 308 hectares already developed for this purpose.
