China: Price of tomatoes in Shandong has halved

Every winter sees the price of tomatoes going up, but this year, the tomato price is falling instead of rising. There are three main reasons for this. Firstly, the price of tomatoes was high last year and a lot of farmers have expanded their tomato planting areas. Secondly, this year's air temperature was good, the plants had enough sunlight, which led to abundant harvests. Thirdly, the amount of tomatoes on the market exceeds demand.

However, because of the dry and rainy periods, the quality of tomatoes is not that good and the customers simply don't want to buy a product of lower quality. Due to the weather, market demands and other factors, we can expect the price of tomatoes will continue to decrease.
