Climeco presents new software

Simple temperature and humidity data display with Clima-Scan

In 2004, Jan Derks founded the consultancy firm Climeco Engineering BV to offer support to innovative projects in the field of closed and semi-closed greenhouses. That is where the idea for the ClimecoVent concept originated, what we now know as "The New Growing."

Four years ago, Rob Wientjens joined as a consultant, and also for the purposes of business succession. In recent years, all aspects of climate control in greenhouses were reviewed and advances were made in acquiring the necessary knowledge and experience.

Recently, Climeco celebrated its 10 year anniversary. This was also the moment chosen by Jan Derks to hand the management over to Rob Wientjens. Climeco remains a company that is close to the growers, offering practical advice to improve the business sustainability. Jan remains active in this area at Climeco.

The company's most recent activity was the development of a system of wireless sensors able to perform extensive measurements and display the temperature and moisture distribution levels in the greenhouse. "This results, on the one hand, on data being obtained about the greenhouse climate in general, and on the other hand, it allows for growers to be advised on how to improve the greenhouse climate," explains Rob Wientjes.

A good system to put this into practice is "Clima-Scan", from Hotraco (Horst, NL). It consists of a set of 30 wireless sensors with a receiver. The measurement data is stored in a local database and presented on a simple display, developed by Climeco in partnership with growers. Clima-Scan was recently presented for the first time at GreenTech 2014.

"We look forward to working together and contributing to save energy and helping create the best climate for our greenhouses," concludes Wientjes.
