Russia: Dalsem Group starts construction of 238 hectare greenhouse project in Kaluga

According to Regnum.ru, LLC "Agro- Invest" has chosen the Dalsem Group as the preferred partner in giving light to their vision to diversify the local economy and to make vegetable import from abroad unnecessary in the future. According to the head of the municipal district "City Lyudinovo and Lyudinovskiy district" Lubov Goncharova, the greenhouse complex will be the largest in the CIS. The Dalsem group has a proven track record in supplying and overseeing such large projects and was therefore a logical choice.

The greenhouse will be built in the Kaluga region, a special economic zone located 150km from Moscow dedicated to cultivate tomatoes, cucumbers and vegetable greens. In close cooperation with Agro- Invest, Dalsem will build their own proven greenhouse design, adapted to the local climate conditions and circumstances for the area. This design has an extremely short payback period. The company expects to recoup investments in the special economic zone "Lyudinovo" within eight years, according Lubov Goncharova.

The 238Ha project has already taken off as the first stone was officially laid on Monday, 26 May. The first stage of the construction is expected to be completed at the end of this year which includes the first 20 hectares of greenhouses, a power supply unit, and a sorting & packing line will be put into operation. The planned annual production volume will be approximately 200 thousand tons and in 2015 the complex is expected to produce more than 18 thousand tons of vegetables. Modern high-tech equipment will make it possible to collect up to four harvests a year. The main distribution channels of the vegetables will be retail chains, regional wholesalers and local catering businesses.
