Former Canadian Bell Pepper grower Sunmaster Produce, recently became a licensed producer of medical cannabis under the limited private Ontario corporation, Medisun Inc. For their state-of-the-art production facility, they have chosen a 100% LED lighting solution with the water-cooled Oreon Grow Lights.
With Medisun’s growing expertise, they plan to produce 100,000 kgs. of medical grade cannabis per year. To reach this production they have been searching for an LED light supplier who could meet their high standards and demands. Medisun was looking for robust LED light fixtures that could withstand the harsh greenhouse conditions and provide, efficient and uniform light distribution.

For the installation Medisun has chosen JV Energy, a subsidiary of Dutch company Voshol Warmte- en Electrotechniek. They are experienced with the installation of Oreon systems in Europe and now also in Canada. “We have installed several lighting installations for Oreon. The combination of high efficient LED lighting and water cooling is very innovative and proven. The water cools the fixtures and transports the heat out of the greenhouse. If necessary, the heat from the warm water can be re-used which makes the entire system even more sustainable”, Jan Voshol CEO of JV Energy states.
