Qatar announces 34 new greenhouse vegetable projects

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) of Qatar has offered 34 new strategic projects for private investors to produce vegetables using greenhouse technology with an area of about 100,000sqm per project.

The Ministry pays special attention to the dissemination of soilless farming technology.

Qatar participated in the Arab Agriculture Day celebration held by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development under the theme “Smart Agriculture: A Better Future for Arab Agriculture”, QNA reported.

In a statement issued on this occasion, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment said that in recent years there has been a significant increase in greenhouse acreage, from about 120 hectares in 2010 to more than 300 hectares this year.
