Adelita, the 'made in South' raspberries available from November to June

In Basilicata and Campania, the production of raspberries in the winter months is now an established reality. Thanks to the climatic conditions of these regions and to the introduction of the Adelita cultivar, it is possible to grow and produce raspberries from November to June.

The project was born in 2010 when the experimentation of cultivar raspberries capable of producing in winter months was launched in Policoro (Basilicata) and in Parete (Campania).

One variety that meets production and market needs is Adelita – patented by Spanish company Planasa and marketed by Planitalia Srl. A flourishing and low-demanding crop in the cold weather, with a high-quality fruit.

In 2016, the Club Piccoli Frutti (Small Fruits Club) was founded – with the participation of Mediterraneo Group and Compagnia delle Primizie (Best of the Season Company). They acquired the exclusive license for the production and marketing of Adelita in Italy. The two companies – with a lot of experience in the strawberry sector – extend their range of berries with the introduction of the raspberry.

The planting of Adelita takes place in the spring-summer months, using seedlings with peat loaf. The entry into production is scheduled from November until June.

The Adelita fruits are large-sized (9-12 g), with a trunk-conical shape and a bright red colour – consisting of a large number of drupels. The Adelita raspberry remains fresh and aromatic - as just picked - until it arrives on the consumers’ tables.
