As part of the Pret a Loger project by TU Delft, existing (old and poorly insulated) homes are fitted with a shell consisting of a greenhouse construction by Nobutec. The hull will be built over the existing houses, "improving the energy label," says Mario Scherpenzeel of Nobutec.
Nobutec has long been concerned with the application of techniques and products from greenhouses in buildings and housing. Scherpenzeel: "This initiative of TU Delft will have far-reaching implications for developments in housing, as it would mean that no more existing homes are demolished, but updated."
