63 mm tube motor disappears inside installation:

Novavert introduces Double Duo 100mm roller tubes

Novavert is about to launch a new aluminium roller tube with a special diameter of 100 mm. Novavert designed this larger sized roller tube after a special request came from one of their customers. "One of our customers [a greenhouse builder] wanted to reduce the number of vertical supporting posts in garden centres," said Novavert's Niclas Heescher.

Garden centre which still has the reduced post distance from earlier times. It also shows the HS maxilux ANTIFIRE B1 film as roll-screen material, which comes with flame-retardant properties and an extremely long lifetime and light transmission.

Many garden centres want to use the maximum amount of floor space in their greenhouse to display their products. "That is why the builder wanted a large open airspace to create a nicer impression for the customers in the garden centres, and supporting posts are in the way of that. But if you use less posts, you will not only need a stronger trellis, but also a stronger roller tube for the shading and screening installation. That is why we introduces a 100 mm roller tube instead of the standard 50 and 63 mm tubes. The 100 mm roller tube also enables that a 63 mm tube motor fits inside the tube."

Thanks to the 100 mm tube, the 63mm tube disappears completely inside the tube. "Normally, with standard roll-up tubes, you will need to cut off about 70 cm from the screen at the side where the motor is placed. Later you will have to stick another part of screen to the tube motor with self-adhesive tape, which is usually quite a mess and does not roll up nicely. Now that you have the tube motor inside the installation, you can install a screen without cutting it.`

"We call it “double duo” because it allows the use of standard roll-screen confection with 6mm reinforcement as well as a PVC clamping lock that works with almost any film," said Heescher. "The standard 63mm roller tube can still be of help: You can use it to join two double duos together, which come in standard sizes of 6.40m."
