Aruna Lighting and Agrolux Nederland supply Royal Pride

Tomatoes in new construction ensured of plenty of light

The new construction of 7.5 ha at greenhouse horticulture company Royal Pride, Middenmeer, has gone operational. Royal Pride has, in conjunction with Agrolux, chosen again to use the bulbs of Aruna for its lighting. In total 9,300 high pressure sodium lamps (SONT) have been installed.

Tomato grower Frank van Kleef: "The replacement by Aruna has proven its value during the seasons again and again. The initial drop out rate of the lamps is lower than we are used to, and moreover, both quality and longevity are superb, and that is why we have chosen again for the bulbs of Aruna Lighting."

Agrolux, De Lier, is the supplier of the armatures for the bulbs of Aruna. The light installation has an average yield of 230 micromol/s/m. Nico van der Houwen, Agrolux: "By now we have a lot of experience with the Aruna's bulbs and we are very happy with them. Measurements we have conducted last year with our new reflector in the garden at Royal Pride, have shown that our new 'Open Optimal' reflector is operating well above par combined with the Aruna bulb".

Jeroen van Velzen, Aruna Lightning: "We are particularly proud at the cooperation with Agrolux in this project. "Our bulbs function excellently as replacement in all brands of armatures. But with this cooperation, the technology also becomes available for new constructions, which is a nice boost of course."

Royal Pride has chosen to install these armatures only once the planting has finished. Van Kleef: "It is more difficult to install, because the crops are already in the greenhouse, but it has the enormous benefit that the lamps do not get dirty while finishing and furnishing the greenhouse."
