Varnet:

"10,000 sq.ft. of glasshouse can yield 100 tons of produce"

According to an assessment by the Varnet Glass Greenhouse company, the road to success in agricultural production goes through modern greenhouse technologies and glass greenhouses. Varnet has been offering its services in a 120,000 square feet area in the Antalya Organized Industrial Zone, having gained over 15 years of experience.

Varnet is known as the only glass greenhouse manufacturer in Turkey and offers glass greenhouses at a lower price than foreign competitors, Posta reports, thus contributing to the national economy by lowering imports.

Varnet officials note that Turkish tomato growers receive 30 to 50 tons of produce annually from 10,000 square feet in modern greenhouses and 12 to 15 tons per 10,000 square feet in greenhouses with soil. This figure is around 80 to 100 tons for Dutch growers for the same amount of space thanks to most advanced greenhouses equipped with the latest technological innovations.

Also, the heating costs in these modern greenhouses are about 40% less, so growers can heat a 300,000 square feet greenhouse for between 25,000 – 40,000 USD annually. That’s why it makes more sense in Turkey to build glass greenhouses in areas where the land is not suitable for agricultural production.
