Biogas Holland and Ekwadraat join forces to create Gascamera Services:

"Huge amounts of gas wasted through leaks"

Gas leaks are bad for many reasons. With the latest state-of-the-art ATEX camera, Gascamera Services can solve gas leaks professionally and efficiently in order to ensure safety and to limit wastage. The camera is equipped with a sensor that is frozen down to -200 degrees Celsius. This makes odorless and otherwise invisible gases visible.

Gascamera Services carries out inspections for the detection and mapping of gas leaks, and also advises on and supports repairs. The Dutch company services the entire gas sector, including biogas, landfill gas and natural gas.

Gases become visible
The camera makes gases visible, including methane, which is the main component of natural gas, biogas and landfill gas. Methane is an easily flammable gas which can create unsafe situations, and it's a greenhouse gas that is 25 times stronger than CO2. The greenhouse gas emission from methane in the Netherlands is estimated to be around 20 MegaTon of CO2 equivalent. Detecting and fixing gas leaks, in addition to increasing safety and reducing harmful environmental emissions, also ensures an overall higher system efficiency.

Many preventative inspections are carried out to ensure that a production or use location is free of gas leaks. Nevertheless, one or more leaks are often found. These can happen when pipes expand and contract due to seasonal influences and changing temperatures. Where pipe segments connect, small gaps can appear which allow gas to escape easily.

Certified specialists
The gas camera is used for the inspection of biogas and natural gas installations at industrial sites, sewage treatment plants, agricultural digesters, landfill gas locations and in the fossil natural gas industry. The inspections are carried out by qualified specialists in accordance with regulations and guidelines.
