Expansion
Also, the plant nursery will expand. A new greenhouse will be built onto the existing greenhouses. They've chosen a Venlo Greenhouse with a leg height of 5 meters. "This construction height supports an airy and optimal breeding climate," says Steven Vanheule. "The white powdered and painted structure contributes to a maximum capture of light. The gables rest on onside poured concrete, a technique that excludes air penetrating into the greenhouses."
"When watering we chose watering booms, each with multiple systems for irrigation, fertilization and application of pesticides. With this type of irrigation we can work more precisely," according to Steven. The system saves water and always provides fresh water to irrigate. A necessity for cabbage plants, the main product of plant nursery Blomme.
The range at nursery Blomme includes cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, broccoli and zucchini plants. "We opt for a calm vegetative phase so we can deliver a firm plant that's ready to plant. Our farmers have every interest in a good start, that's why our slogan is: "Plant Nursery Blomme: Your seed to success!"
Quality first
"We like to work with strong and well informed farmers. Our self-developed software send an order confirmation by email with an overview of all orders placed," says Steven. "The software provides an up-to-date seed list, which avoids surprises. Correct communication is important to us."
