HortTechnology announces open access of applied horticultural research

HortTechnology will become an open access journal on January 1, 2019. This enhancement will provide immediate exposure and access to the most up-to-date research, benefitting both authors and readers.

Additional features of open access are:
  • Reduced time from submission to publication (the wait for an entire issue to be released is eliminated)
  • Open Access makes it easier to comply with institutional- and funding-related mandates associated with the publishing of research
  • Potential increases in the scholarly impact and cited references of articles
  • Authors will have one flat fee for publishing and do not have to be concerned with reducing the article size or supporting images, graphs and tables within their manuscripts to reduce cost
  • All communities have access to research, bridging global and financial hurdles
  • There are no subscription fees for authors, their university, peers, or others working in related fields to be able to see research
  • Articles can more easily be shared through other networks (for example, social media or ResearchGate, etc.)
For authors, the transition to open access will begin on October 1, 2018. As of that date, all manuscripts submitted to HortTechnology will be published online when the article receives final approval.

Subscribers to HortTechnology will receive the last printed issue in December 2018 (volume 28, number 6). New members who have subscribed to HortTechnology since June 2018 have received a pro-rated fee to the end of the year. All other members' pro-rated subscription fee will be applied to 2019 ASHS membership dues.
