It's time to speak some German. Can you say "Bayerischen Klimapreis Landwirtschaft, Garten - und Weinbau"? It is the award that was won last week by German cucumber growing company Reinhard Busigel GbR.

Remarkable, creative and transferable
The award goes to new and innovative projects and farmers making a contribution to a better climate and against climate change. The proposals should have a remarkable character, be creative and if possible be transferable to other companies.
That's exactly why André Busigel won. He was awarded for his energy concept.
The Busigel family has been working in agriculture for over elf generations. Since 30 years they've specialised in cucumbers, harvesting about four million of them a year. The company, Reinhard Busigel GbR, was the first one in the region using the heat of the nearby biogas plant.
The proposals should be characterized by their pilot character and creativity and, if possible, be transferable to other companies. Prize winners will be awarded in the three categories of agriculture, horticulture and viticulture. The prize is awarded for agriculture with two times 3,000 euros and for horticulture and viticulture with 3,000 euros each. If proposals are the same after the jury has assessed them, the prize can be divided among several winners.
