Wiretec Draadproducten:

"No greenhouse can do without wire products"

If you do not know about them, you won’t see them, but in almost every greenhouse wires are used in various ways. Wiretec Draadproducten supplies and manufactures the most diverse suspension and fastening materials for greenhouse horticulture, industrial and non-residential buildings. This month the company will be 12.5 years old. Marco van den Bergen: " Good quality wire products easily outlast a greenhouse by tenfold."

A diverse wire assortment

At the Wateringen factory there are several rolls of steel wire in various versions. There are wire applications for both crop support as well as for electrical, greenhouse heating, screening or water-technical installations. Marco: "About 95% of all the wire on the rolls here in the warehouse is galvanized, but we also have bare and stainless steel in stock. We have been buying this steel from the same factories for years, so we’re always sure of a good quality."

Thick and thin, large and small: all shapes and sizes are possible.

The wire on the rolls varies in thickness from 2 to 8 millimeters, but at Wiretec they also know how to handle other wire diameters. Marco: "Because light incidence in greenhouse horticulture is very important, it happens that customers prefer to have their crop hooks as thin as possible, without sacrificing sturdiness. We are happy to give advice and by asking questions we try to determine the right thickness and the right material for each individual application. ‘You ask, we produce’ one might say." Production starts with a turning coil from which the wire disappears in the CNC, a controlled wire processing machine.

The wire drum communicates with the computer of the wire bending machine, so that the wire at the right speed ...

... is processed by the CNC-controlled machine.

Marco: "With the CNC-controlled wire bending machine, we can make all possible 2D and 3D shapes from wire in thicknesses from 2 to 8 millimeters. Based on a drawing, a model, but if something does not yet exist, also from a sketch or by heart, we program the requested wire shapes on the wire bending machine. This machine ensures that the wire comes out of the machine in the right form and the right size. Smart programming and making sure that the wire is straight, that's the trick. In order to guarantee a uniform quality, we always check whether the wire bending machine continues to do its job properly by placing the wire products next to the original design."

Marco van den Bergen ensures that the wire bending machine does what it has to do.

Different tools can be mounted on the CNC-controlled wire bending machine, so that 2D and 3D shapes can be made in each wire thickness.

Some wire products such as wire suspenders have existed for a long time. Yet there is still a continuous demand for new wire applications, because the developments in greenhouse horticulture do not stop. Marco: "With our flexible machinery park, to which regularly new machines are added when new applications require this, we also make many wire applications for suspended gutters, for specific customer-oriented projects as well as for the supply of turnkey projects. If required we can also deliver crop wire or fastening material."
