Tomato sorting line gets second life in Australia

During the past months, Steenks Service has realized a complete used tomato sorting line for a client in Australia. The project was managed entirely by Steenks Service, in collaboration with their Dutch partner Hortimat. At the moment the sorting line is being assembled on Australian territory by three Hortimat technicians.

Mechanical tomato sorting
Steenks Service: "As a specialist in horticultural machines we are able to handle large projects like this, often in collaboration with other well-known parties in the horticultural sector. In this case we worked together with Hortimat, who's been a reliable partner of Steenks Service. The role of Steenks Service was to take care of the Australian customer from A to Z. This means that we mapped out the customer's wishes, planned out the machine and monitored the progress of the project."

Outsourcing large projects
"Especially for Australian growers, outsourcing this large project is worth a lot because it allows them to focus on what is important: cultivating tomatoes. Setting up a project like this from such a distance is a challenging task. In the past, our knowledge of the horticulture industry was often used to guide large projects in the right direction, and this will certainly happen more often in the future. No matter what the client wants, we can realize it in cooperation with our partners."

Of course the machine was extensively tested before it was shipped to Australia. The videos below give a good idea of the size and operation of the entire line.
