Greenline Food

"Plants less susceptible to crazy roots with organic substrate"

For years stone wool has been the most common substrate for the cultivation of fruit vegetables. But Lentse Potgrond and Slingerland Potgrond claim to have succeeded in developing a perfect organic alternative: Greenline Food. "The result: resilient and vital plants that benefit optimally from the soil life present in the substrate."

Soil life for resilient and vital plants
In the 1970s, fruit vegetable cultivation in the open field was replaced by substrate cultivation. Especially the cultivation on stone wool became very popular. The advantages are obvious: greater controllability of irrigation and fertilizer and an easy means to disinfect the substrate. But stone wool also has an important disadvantage, namely the lack of soil life. And it is precisely this soil life, naturally present in organic substrates, that is extremely important for vital, resistant plants, plants that are hardy.

The best of both worlds
With Greenline Food from Lentse Potgrond and Slingerland Potgrond, growers get the best of both worlds: control of irrigation and fertilizer, but also optimal conditions for soil life. In fact, growers themselves can have a positive influence on soil life through the addition of fungi such as trichoderma. These fungi stimulate root growth. "In extensive practical research at tomato growers it appears that the plants grown on Greenline Food are much less susceptible to crazy root disease and have an excellent absorption of nutrients because of stable pH during the entire cultivation", they say.

Sustainable substrate
Greenline Food fits very well in the current trend of making substrates more sustainable. This new substrate contains 75% renewable raw materials from residual flows from other industries. The initial pH and EC can be adjusted to the wishes of the individual grower. All raw materials are RHP certified, so absolutely safe to use. Greenline Food is also easy to remove or to be reused as 100% organic material.

Greenline Food can be used with traditional stone wool slabs. The use of stone wool blocks is also not a problem. The roots grow well from the rock wool block directly into Greenline Food.
