Jean-Pierre Schenkeveld, Calor Holland:

"Quality greenhouse heating essential for optimum production"

Calor Holland was officially founded on March 1 and of course would appear to be a young company. However, they have a wealth of experience in the design, installation and maintenance of greenhouse heating installations. Klaas Althof, Jean-Pierre Schenkeveld, Arno de Veld and Arco Vis have plenty of experience in the field of greenhouse heating with vegetables and ornamental plants. Piet van Soest, with more than 40 years of experience as an authority in the area of greenhouse heating, is also involved in Calor Holland as a technical advisor. Jean-Pierre Schenkeveld: "You're not going to get much more experience with heating greenhouses than this."

For the men of Calor Holland, the challenge is to achieve the highest possible heat output for optimal cultivation with the lowest possible energy input. The key is therefore an equal distribution of heat in the greenhouse. From their office in Stolwijk, Calor Holland has all the necessary expertise to take care of the entire process from design to installation for their customers. Jean-Pierre: "A good temperature distribution in the greenhouse ensures a uniform growth of the product, which is very important both for production and for the organization of labor."

Design plan
Good greenhouse heating starts with a good design. Jean Pierre: "For a good design it is important to first make a comprehensive inventory of the situation. A comprehensive analysis ensures that every detail of the installation is extensively explained from the filling in of primary items such as the screen percentage up to the impact plate at the end of a pipe rail installation. After going through all of the details, we can start by making a heat-loss calculation and then follow the schematic diagram of the installation."

Calor Holland focuses both on the Dutch market and on exports. Jean-Pierre: "With our work in the past, we built up a good reputation. Both from the Netherlands and from abroad several customers have already contacted us and we will do our very best to meet the wishes of our customers."

Detailed Report
Especially abroad you will regularly encounter 'custom' greenhouse heating installations in place, says Jean-Pierre. "We then run through these, often dated, installations from beginning to end in order to find out what the problem is and then identify which parts of the installation need to be replaced and which parts can be fitted in the new design. Recently in the Caucasus we viewed the entire installation and incorporated a completely new setup in a technical report. If you can help the local grower by drafting an extensive report that can be used to heat the greenhouses without any problems in the coming years, then that gives a lot of satisfaction."

Export projects
Soon the first of two export projects will be delivered. They will also work with a grower whose installation no longer works properly. Jean-Pierre: "The advice from the technical report resulted in an order for delivery of the materials, after which the renovation will be carried out under our supervision and with local welders. The greenhouse heating will soon be in good working order again, also taking into account the expansion of the existing company with two additional greenhouses. The new boiler capacity will be able to meet future demand."

Call
Jean-Pierre: "The advantage of a fresh start is that we still have enough space to design and execute projects for the coming year. For growers who are realizing a new project in 2018 or want to adapt an existing greenhouse heating system, we are here to help. Just send us a message or give us a call."
