great strawberry harvest in Turkmenistan

"A suitable greenhouse solution makes better harvest"

Spring is absolutely a strawberry harvest season, especially in subtropical countries. Located in the center of the Asian continent, Turkmenistan has a typical temperate continental climate, it is one of the most arid regions in the world. The annual average temperature in Turkmenistan is only 14℃-16℃ but there is a large temperature difference between day and night and different seasons. But thanks to the temperature difference, farmers there can get a fruitful harvest of delicious strawberries.

In March, one of the Turkmenistan strawberry growers shared his congratulated harvest of this season. The daily output up to 65g/m2 which is 10-25% more than other growers in the Ashigabat area. This number is actually far beyond their plan. As the first step of this strawberry project, a 6000 m2 film greenhouse was built in 2016 and put into use in 2017. This greenhouse is provided by Beijing Kingpeng Corporation.

In order to get better benefits, at the same time, lower the investment and operation cost. Kingpeng used PO film instead of regular film to get better heat isolation ability. Because PO film light transmission is generally over 95%, that is 4.5-4.7% higher than PE film. This kind of film can also reflect far infrared rays, which will keep more heat inside the greenhouse during the night. With PO film as covering material, local sunlight resource could be fully used, resulting in strawberries doing more photosynthesis and growing better and the power consumption is decreased.

To counter the high temperatures in summer, which can reach 40°, Kingpeng's team provided comprehensive ways to help decrease the temperature inside greenhouse. The gear-rack drive window on the roof takes up more than 30% of the total roof area, which means high air exchange quantity. In combination with a spray system, in the high temperatures and dry summer, the greenhouse can create a micro-climate with higher humidity and lower temperatures.

"It is no doubt that, an appropriate greenhouse design will not only provide the plants with a suitable living space, but also help the growers control the operation cost in every way",
