Cees Ammerlaan, Nunhems, on SEncere

"Providing both high production and high resistance"

The cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) is a big problem every year for many growers. Especially in summer and autumn the plants can have puckered and mottled leaves and affected fruit. At Nunhems they have a lot of confidence in the cucumber SEncere. Cees Ammerlaan: "The SEncere variety has shown a good resistance to this virus over the past three years, and because of the high virus resistance in combination with its strong growth, the virus does not have a chance to break through." SEncere is a cucumber variety intended for traditional cultivation in summer and autumn.

High production and virus resistance
Many other cucumber varieties with high virus resistance also have a lower yield as trade-off, but SEncere appears to be able to combine both high production and virus resistance. SEncere belongs to the Nunhems product line: SEcurence. These varieties stand for Security & Excellence: secure protection against viruses and diseases, coupled with excellent production. "With SEncere, as a grower, you choose safety and production security. If you as a grower still have to deal with the CGMM virus, with SEncere you can continue to count on an excellent production that is on average 5% higher than standard resistant varieties. Moreover, a high percentage weigh 40 grams which is an excellent average fruit weight."

Fast growing
In addition to production reliability and good fruit weight, SEncere is also very fast in producing fruit. Cees: "It is perhaps the fastest cucumber variety I know. After planting, SEncere is often in production two to three days earlier than other varieties. The gap in production is therefore a lot smaller. And for the grower ultimately applies: the faster your crop is in production, the better."
