Colombian company asking attention for small farmers on Seeds & Chips conference

Sáenz Fety, a Colombian company in products of the agricultural sector, will be part of Seeds & Chips, the event dedicated to food innovation, which connects people, ideas and solutions to strengthen a better food production system. It is the first time that a Colombian company participates in this summit. Sáenz Fety will seek to generate commitment and a better understanding of the importance of small farmers, who are responsible for the production of 80% of the world's food.

Guaranteed food security over time, requires a new generation of farmers capable of moving from traditional methods to professional agriculture and, thereby, achieve an economic, social and environmental balance in sustainable food production.

In this sense Sáenz Fety, a Colombian firm with more than 60 years of experience and leader in Colombia in the commercialization of agricultural and livestock inputs, has made efforts to promote the version 2.0 of the farmer, who according to the company must be a micro-entrepreneur of the field that makes decisions based on numbers and not on the eye, where being large does not necessarily mean having many hectares, but producing more in less space and additionally being sustainable with the environment, more professional, more prepared and therefore more competitive.

Based on its career path and contributions to the modernization of the Colombian field, the firm is the first in Colombia to receive the invitation to participate in the Seeds&Chips summit, the most important in the world on food innovation, which will take place in Milan from May 7th to 10th and will show the latest solutions aimed at promoting a healthier and more sustainable system. The invitation was made by the Princess Princess Viktoria of Bourbon-Parma, who included Sáenz Fety in the conference "Small Farmers" that she will moderate on the afternoon of May 8th.

Alejandro Sáenz, Business Development Director of Sáenz Fety, says he is very pleased to represent Colombia as a speaker at such an important event. His talk will be regarding the challenge that governments have on promoting innovation and make it apply at all levels, in order to achieve the transformation and boost to agriculture that farmers and peasants in Colombia and the world require.

Sáenz states that "government proposals on innovation need to overcome obstacles such as the politicization of public institutions, so that they can be applied and be effective in the short term, thus benefiting those really affected, promoting access to credit, education and transfer technological".

"Additionally we will present as a success case our Innovation and Development Center (IDC) in Colombia and how it generates a great social impact, by raising awareness through education to all the actors involved in the agricultural chain" indicates Alejandro Sáenz; who will also present the project for the development of a consumer experience center and the construction of the third greenhouse in the IDC, which will be more modern than the other two that already exist (with intermediate and basic technology), which replicate perfectly the conditions of the Colombian countryside. The new facility will enable all those involved in the food production chain to train and generate a positive social impact for Colombians .
