Freschissimi open-top bags from Fellini Patrizio
"We have been using these bags for the past few months at the request of retailers and feedback was great. Basically, we just take normal lettuce heads and, instead of selling them loose, we bag them. It's an additional cost, but results have been noticeable," explains Emile Fellini.
The produce looks better and, thanks to the lively colours and logo of the "Freschissimi" range, consumers find it inviting. The bag reports information and the slogan is 'guardami, prendimi, gustami' (admire me, take me, try me). Consumers never actually touch the product, so quality is unaffected. The open-top means the lettuce breathes more, which extends its shelf life especially during this season characterised by sudden temperature changes."

Fellini will start harvesting and collecting lettuce at the weekend. Harvesting of the local produce has been delayed compared to a normal year because of the weather.

So far, lettuce has come from supplier companies in Fondi or Puglia. The local produce will become available on Monday April 23rd.

"Sales were good over Easter and the trend has remained unvaried since. The market is rather lively at the moment."
