Geert Wilders of the PVV visited two greenhouse horticulture companies in Limburg on Friday 6 April. Wilders saw a tomato and a strawberry company. "It's fantastic to see here what great companies there are. The professionalism and the heart of the people for their products are considerable," Wilders said.
Agricultural and horticultural organization LTO wanted to inform Wilders about relevant themes in agriculture and horticulture. "We have shown him how we work with biological pest control, the export position of agriculture and labor," LTO chairman Marc Calon reports. "It is very important to let the House of Representatives know what we are doing."
Migrant workers
Wilders has always been critical about labor migrants. The strawberry business also uses foreign employees. "When you still have lots of people in the Netherlands who are able to work, but do not want to, I think you should exert pressure on them to work. But in times of a limited labor market, the strawberries and tomatoes still have to be picked. The best however is, to have Dutch people work in a healthy, Dutch company."
