"The season for reflector cleaning is here"

Energy-efficiency and improving light output are important topics in horticulture. Growers are constantly looking for improvements, but sometimes forget that a lot of gain can be had with simple measures. For example, cleaning growing lamps and reflectors on a regular basis. At Lightshine, a well-known company in the field, the 'washing season' has started.

Their logo is now on the façade!

"With the same ingenuity as the growers themselves, we make this normally labor-intensive task a quick and effective job", says Marcel van den Bogert. "With the mobile Lightshine cleaning machines we quickly return the lamps to perfect condition, which not only results in considerably better light output, but also lower energy consumption."

Experience has shown that light output can improve by up to 9% by cleaning the reflectors and lamps. Lightshine offers customers at home and abroad a 'complete package' of dismantling, cleaning the components and finally reassembly. In addition, GreenPower LED interlight modules can also be cleaned.

The moment when growers decide to wash their lighting installation differs, but Marcel does see a trend. For Lightshine, the 'season' starts in May and then continues until December, followed by a few quiet months. There is enough work to be done even then, however: "In the winter we are busy enough with our other company CleanCarts which cleans shopping carts and baskets."

Marcel: "Cleaning your lights once or twice a year ensures a higher light output and lower energy consumption, and also prolongs the lifespan of hoods. Maintenance is maintenance!"
