Horticultural zone to be established in Balikesir, Turkey

In the meeting between Balikesir Senator Ali Aydinlioglu and Mayor of the Edremit district of Balikesir Ali Sirmali, it has been decided to increase the efforts to establish a specialized agricultural industrial zone in Cikrikci plain of Edremit in an area of 7.5 million square feet.

Senator Ali Aydinlioglu: “I will meet with relevant institutions in the government to speed up the process. This area will be split into plots of 250,000 square feet and greenhouses will be built upon these plots to be given to the growers in the region. Cut flowers and ornamental plants will be grown in these greenhouses where more than 1,000 people will be employed. For the heating of these greenhouses, our goal is to utilize geothermal water resources to achieve low costs in production. This zone will increase the economic activity in the area immensely and contribute to the development of the city.”
