"Year-round organic vegetables"

Russia: First greenhouse complex to open over the Urals in 2019

The launch of a modern greenhouse complex, the first agricultural enterprise in the Kurgan region to produce vegetables under glass, is planned in the Safakulevskiy district for 2019.

"At present, vegetables are not grown in greenhouses in the Kurgan region," said Sergey Pugin, director of the Department of the Agro-industrial complex. "Construction of such a greenhouse enterprise in the Safakulevskiy district will allow the year-round provision of the population with organic vegetables, produced by local growers".

The project is developed in accordance with the strategy of social and economic development of the Kurgan region. Within the framework of the project on creating the infrastructure for the complex, the connection of the facility to the electric network, a gas pipeline, water line and a service road, 2.7 km long, are planned.

The Department of Agro-industrial complex acts as a customer of the infrastructure project. According to preliminary estimates, the implementation of the project will cost 3 million euros.

As Sergey Pugin noted, the construction of the greenhouse complex is going ahead on schedule. A pile field has been established on the territory of 12.5 ha, metal constructions have been delivered, and simultaneously soil filling is carried out. Starting in 2019, the greenhouse complex will be producing about 10 thousand tons a year of organic vegetables in winter greenhouses.
