An agricultural complex for year-round cultivation, sorting, packing, storage and delivery of agricultural products to the final consumer should start functioning in Astrakhan in the 2nd quarter of 2019. The Regional Ministry of Economic Development announced the news last month.
The delegation of the Astrakhan region signed the agreement on the project launch in February at the Russian Investment Forum in Sochi. The projected first part of constructed greenhouses will comprise 10 ha, and the total area of the project will be 34 ha. The greenhouses will be located on a land plot near a power station in the Babayev area. The announced investments in the project are 35.38 million Euro. In addition, 150 new working placements will be created here.
"The greenhouse complex will have modern equipment with automated systems of mineral nutrition and microclimate control. An important feature of the project is that it is an all year round one. Products from greenhouses will be delivered to the retailers in the autumn-winter period too", - noted the representatives of the Ministry of Economics and Development of the Astrakhan region.
The Dutch company Dalsem, specializing in the development of high-tech greenhouse complexes in Russia, Kazakhstan and European countries will participate in the project implementation. Earlier, it was reported that there would be vegetables, berries and even flowers grown under the roof of the greenhouse complex in Astrakhan.
