Turkey: Financial support by the state for greenhouses

Ministry of Forest and Water Management in Turkey aims to increase the income level of the forest farmers by supporting them through grants and low-cost credit lines in projects that could generate additional revenue. For this purpose, the Directorate of Forests has contributed around 220,000 USD in greenhouse investments throughout the year 2017 to 34 families around Izmir and Manisa, two cities located on the western coast of Turkey. Additionally the Ministry directed funds worth 1 million USD to 395 forest farming families in the same region in various other investments.

Forest and Water Management Prof. Dr. Veysel Eroglu: “Support for greenhouse investments is one of the important areas in our funding program for forest farmers to help them to generate additional revenue. We are receiving very positive feedback from our farmers with regards to these support programs. There is a higher demand in Izmir and Manisa for these funds in 2018 which is why we are currently in the planning phase to increase our support through these programs. “
