Dutch fruiting vegetables season kicks off



Wednesday March 14 2018, The Greenery opened the fruiting vegetable season in a festive manner. During kickoff the growers of fruiting vegetables presented their products to customers and relations.





The Greenery yearly organizes the kickoff of the fruiting vegetable season. This year the opening took place at the location of Westlandpeppers in De Lier. During kickoff of the season the various fruiting vegetables products, such as yellow courgettes, graffiti eggplants, Coeur de Boeuf tomatoes, (snack) bell peppers and (snack) cucumbers, a very large assortment of tomato varieties and various varieties of peppers.





The various vegetables could be viewed while enjoying snacks prepared by chef Mario and a beverage. The growers informed the almost 150 interested persons about their specific properties, the growing process and the availability of their product(s). This is important according to seller and organizer Jesper van Oostende: "The kickoff of the Dutch fruiting vegetables season is more than just a kickoff. We want to inform our clients about the broad supply of fruiting vegetables we are able to offer all year round thanks to our growers. We get a lot of positive reactions each year, and this year also."





There is also a yearly prize-giving with which a travel cheque worth €500 is awarded. The lucky winner this year was Jorick Steenks of the company Koornstra from De Lier.





The Greenery has had a successful afternoon and is looking forward to a good season.
