The Outdoor and Protected Leafy Salads Technical Day will be a chance for growers across the industry to catch up on the latest research developments in crop protection and production, with bespoke presentations relevant to the different growing systems.
The day will begin with discussions for all, with updates on lettuce Fusarium wilt, crop protection and breeding for improved lettuce quality. In the afternoon growers will be split into their relevant crop situations:
- Outdoor growers will go on a short facilities tour, exploring biopesticides, hydroponics and LEDs. Rosemary Collier will update growers on bean seed fly research, followed by a discussion from John Elphinstone on soil health.
- Protected growers will initially be updated on spray applications and lessons from the AMBER project, followed by a CHAP facilities tour, focusing on biopesticides, hydroponics and LEDs.
