In Fretzdorf, the plants are grown under glass on about 0.5 hectares at Werder Frucht, at temperatures of some 16 to 21 degrees Celsius. The first seedlings - about 15 to 20 centimeters tall - were put into the ground in late February. Now the varieties "Kylie" and "Angela" have reached a size of about one meter. Each plant will grow about 100-120 fruits. With crop scissors, the ripe aubergines are cut off four times a week.
